Social agents

Social agents write for your brand on social networks. A posting agent writes posts for X, LinkedIn or Instagram on a schedule you set. A reply agent finds conversations on X or LinkedIn that fit your brand and writes replies to them. This page covers setting them up, what each needs connected, and how approvals work.

The two kinds

  • Broadcast (posting agents): writes and publishes posts on X, LinkedIn or Instagram.
  • Engage (reply agents): looks for posts about your space on X or LinkedIn and writes replies. Replies on Instagram aren't offered.

Discover and Outreach appear in the agent list marked Coming Soon; they can't be set up yet.

Each agent works on one network with one connected account. A brand can have several agents, for example LinkedIn posts, LinkedIn replies and X posts.

Setting one up

When you set up a brand, Odeist AI suggests agents prefilled from your brand profile. You will find the same suggestions on Brand › Agents until each agent exists. To build your own, choose Add an agent (/brand/agents/new).

The settings you fill in:

  • Instructions: what to post about and how, or for replies, who to reply to and what to say.
  • Keywords (reply agents): the topics it looks for.
  • Post type: on LinkedIn, a text post, an image, a video, a repost or a trending topic; on X, a text post, an image or a video; on Instagram, an image or a Reel.
  • Frequency: Every day, Every weekday, 3 times a week, Twice a week or Once a week. For reply agents this is how often it looks for posts.
  • Time: a time in your time zone, or Best time for posts and Any time for replies.
  • Publishing: post (or reply) automatically, or send each draft to you for approval first.

More options sit in the agent's advanced settings, such as the language it writes in and a monthly cap on posts. See Languages.

What it needs connected

A posting or reply agent needs an account on its network, connected under Brand › Integrations or from the agent's own set-up. Without one, Odeist AI asks you to connect an account first. If an account is disconnected later, reconnect it there; the agent can't post until you do.

Approvals

Each agent has an Auto post or Auto reply switch:

  • On: posts and replies are published as soon as they are written.
  • Off: each draft waits for you. It shows in Today under Needs you, where you approve it. When you've connected WhatsApp, Telegram or Slack, it also reaches you there (see Approve drafts in chat).

Approvals are part of the paid plans and the trial, and that's all they need: drafts wait in Today. To also get them in your chat, connect WhatsApp, Telegram or, where available, Slack in Settings › Notifications. Without approvals on your plan, the switch stays on automatic and shows why. Each task decides for itself, under Before it goes out in its settings.

When you approve, the post goes out at its scheduled time, or right away if it is already due. When you skip a draft with a reason, the agent learns from it.

How agents learn

Your approvals, edits, skips and thumbs-up or thumbs-down ratings on published posts become Learned rules for each agent, shown under Published in Calendar's list. Every post the agent writes follows them, and you can edit or delete any rule.

Credits

Posts and replies use credits: 5 credits for a text post, 30 for a post with an AI image and 2 for a reply, plus a little for each search a reply agent makes. When credits run out, agents pause and pick up where they left off once credits come back. Older per-account subscriptions work the same way: the plan gives monthly credits for what it costs, with no licence limits. See Credits and plans.

Changing an agent

Open the agent from Brand › Agents to change its settings. An agent that is paused or turned off doesn't run, and you can't schedule posts on it until you turn it back on.
