Approve drafts in chat

You can approve your drafts without opening Odeist AI. Pick WhatsApp, Telegram or Slack, and each new draft arrives there as a card with Approve, Edit and Skip. You can also just write to Odeist AI in plain words to change a draft, schedule it, or start a new post from a photo or a voice note. This page covers setting it up, what you can say, and the WhatsApp 24-hour rule.

Choose where you approve

Open Settings › Notifications and find Approve drafts in. The choices are:

  • WhatsApp
  • Telegram
  • Slack
  • Review page: you get a link to the review page in your browser when drafts are ready.

A chat can only be chosen once it is connected. If you haven't chosen anything and your account has a WhatsApp number, drafts go to WhatsApp.

Connecting each chat

  • WhatsApp. Add your number in Settings › Profile, in Phone Number (WhatsApp), or with Add WhatsApp number on the Notifications page. Then, under Approve drafts in, choose Connect WhatsApp. Odeist AI shows a code like ODEIST 123456 (and opens WhatsApp with it written, where it can); send it to Odeist AI from that same number. The code proves it's your account, and sending it proves it's your number, so nobody can use your number with their account. The code lasts 30 minutes. Until you connect, drafts come as a link to the review page.
  • Telegram. On the Notifications page, choose Connect Telegram. Telegram opens a chat with Odeist AI; press Start there to finish. The link works for 15 minutes; if it runs out, choose Open Telegram again. To disconnect, choose Disconnect in Settings or send /stop in the chat.
  • Slack, where it's available for your account: on the Notifications page, choose Connect Slack. Odeist AI talks to you in a private message, not in a channel. If you connected Slack before chatting was possible, Settings asks you to Reconnect Slack once, so Odeist AI can read your messages to it and the files you send it.

Draft cards

Each draft arrives as a card: where it goes (for example, a LinkedIn post or a reply on X), the agent that wrote it, when it goes out, any picture, and the words. The buttons are:

  • Approve (or Approve & post when the draft has no set time). It goes out at its time, or straight away.
  • Edit. Odeist AI asks what should change. Say it your way ("shorter", "add our website", "more casual") or send the new text. The changed draft comes back as a card to approve.
  • Skip. Nothing goes out, and the next draft follows.

A reply that Odeist AI hasn't written yet comes with Write a reply and Skip. When the last draft is done, Odeist AI says so and messages you when the next one is ready.

Tapping a button on a card is your own choice, exactly like clicking it in Today, so it acts right away.

Talking in plain words

You don't need the buttons. While a card is on screen, a message like "shorter", "add our link" or "post it at 9 tomorrow" acts on that draft. You can also ask questions about your marketing, as in Ask Odeist.

  • Writing or rewording a post happens at once. Nothing is posted; the result comes back as a card.
  • Anything that posts, schedules, skips, runs an agent or closes a card asks you first, with Yes, do it and No buttons. Under "If you say yes, I will:" the question lists exactly what will happen: the brand, the network and the words that would go out. Typing "yes" or "no" works too; a longer message, like "yes but shorter", is read as a new request.

Only the latest question can be answered. If a draft's words changed after its card was sent, Approve on the older card doesn't post: Odeist AI shows you the latest version to approve instead.

Photos and voice notes

  • Send a photo to start a post. Odeist AI asks what the post should say and where it should go: LinkedIn, X or Instagram. Add a caption to the photo to say it all at once.
  • Send a voice note (or a voice clip in Slack) and Odeist AI writes out what you said and answers it. Keep it under two minutes.

On WhatsApp, send pictures as photos; videos and documents aren't taken there yet.

The WhatsApp 24-hour rule

WhatsApp lets a business send free-form messages only within 24 hours of your last message to it. When it has been longer than that, Odeist AI can't send the cards straight away. Instead it sends a short notice that drafts are ready, with a button. Tap it, and the cards follow. Replying to Odeist AI at any time also opens the chat again.

Telegram and Slack have no such limit.

Plans and credits

Draft cards and button taps cost nothing, and so do your questions: answering uses no credits, as in the app. A post Odeist AI writes or an agent it runs for you uses that work's credits. Talking to Odeist AI in a chat comes with a plan or the trial; without one, your drafts still arrive with their buttons.
